Celebrity [səˈlebrəti] 는 보통 연예인들한테 사용한다고 한다.

유명한 과학자 라던지 이런 경우는 renowned figure 등으로 표현하는게 맞다고 함.My job is a ~ 가 어색하냐니까... 어색한거 맞다고...^^That kind of thing vs those kinds of things 단복수

줄여서 말하는 이름은 shortened name/ for short 로 표현 가능.

'go by ~'는 '~라는 이름으로 통하다.' 라는 표현이다. 처음보는것 같은...?

e.g He goes by the name 'Gureum'.

What name do you go by?

Many artists also go by catchy English names.

아까 위에서 얘기했던 celebrity 관련 내용

현재 살아있으면서 특히 entertainment industry 쪽에서 유명한 경우를 말한다고..

'유명한 과학자' '유명한 발명가' 이런 경우는 'Famous inventer', 'renowned physicist' 이런식으로 말한다고 함.

또한 죽은 사람도 celebrities가 될수 없다고... (헉)
